This quote reminds us of the unexpected success of this first book release. The force of the community is strong. As it stands today, we’ve sold just short of 700 physical copies to countries all over the world. With another 200 copies that were distributed in other ways, by sponsors, IT companies, giveaways and such…  

One Laptop Per Child 

Just recently we received our first payment from Amazon KDP, meaning we will be making our first donation to One Laptop Per Child not too long from now.  

Their mission statement, as per their website: 

“To create educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning.”

When children have access to this type of tools they get engaged in their own education. They learn, share, create, and collaborate. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future.

Unfortunately, we need to pay income taxes over the money we collect. However, we will personally chip in as well, partly compensating our tax “losses”. Anyway, since our book is now publicly available, free for everyone to download we don’t expect to sell a lot of physical copies from now on. What’s next? 

Well, we don’t want to spoil anything yet, but don’t worry because this project is far from over! We just met up a few weeks ago and future plans are already in the making.  

In fact, we have an upcoming meeting planned where we will discuss the details of our next endeavour. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Byte-Sized project if the community, meaning YOU, wasn’t involved.  

We can’t wait to get started, expect to hear more soon.
