It has already been six months (a little over) since my last update, time for version 4.0 โ a lot has happened in the meantime, as a result, youโll see some noticeable changes. Not only from a feature/functionality perspective but from a vendor/company perspective as well. From now on I will be focusing on the big three: Citrix, with App Layering โ former Unidesk, VMware App Volumes and Liquidware FlexApps.
From five to three
Which makes sense, when you think about it. I โdroppedโ Fslogix, not because I do not like them anymore, in contrary, theyโre doing some great things, but they are not an application layering company โ something I also highlighted when publishing version 3.0 six months ago. I also got rid Citrix App Disks. Iโm sure you all know or understand that with the Unidesk acquisition App Disk is bound to be deprecated not too long from now, as are PvDโs. Which leaves these three. Some of the biggest changes are to be found in the Liquidware FlexApp portfolio.
Side note: Citrix App disks are no longer part of the new 7.15 LTSR release, however, in the Current Releases, versions App disks is still present. For example, it will be part of the 7.16 CR release coming up in a couple of monthsโ time, at least thatโs what the CTX E-docs tell us.
Without further adoโฆ
