It has already been six months (a little over) since my last update, time for version 4.0 โ€“ a lot has happened in the meantime, as a result, youโ€™ll see some noticeable changes. Not only from a feature/functionality perspective but from a vendor/company perspective as well. From now on I will be focusing on the big three: Citrix, with App Layering โ€“ former Unidesk, VMware App Volumes and Liquidware FlexApps.

From five to three

Which makes sense, when you think about it. I โ€˜droppedโ€™ Fslogix, not because I do not like them anymore, in contrary, theyโ€™re doing some great things, but they are not an application layering company โ€“ something I also highlighted when publishing version 3.0 six months ago. I also got rid Citrix App Disks. Iโ€™m sure you all know or understand that with the Unidesk acquisition App Disk is bound to be deprecated not too long from now, as are PvDโ€™s. Which leaves these three. Some of the biggest changes are to be found in the Liquidware FlexApp portfolio.

Side note: Citrix App disks are no longer part of the new 7.15 LTSR release, however, in the Current Releases, versions App disks is still present. For example, it will be part of the 7.16 CR release coming up in a couple of monthsโ€™ time, at least thatโ€™s what the CTX E-docs tell us.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industrys standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown prmontserrat took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
